This weekend saw the end of the 2010 World Cup, seeing Spain win the tournament!! Between the local pubs and ourselves, those who ordered casks of our special "Pen-ALE-ty" got a World Cup team flag, the idea in mind was whoever had the winning teams flag, receives a free cask!!

Congratulations to the Whitworth Park Hotel in Darley Dale who held the winning flag! They will now receive a free cask on their next order!!

Its the arrival of our World Cup special brew this week and orders are flying in! "Pen-ALE-ty" is a 4%, light summer blonde ale. We've all tried our fair share at the brewery and think its fantastic, perfect for a few pints while watching the World Cup, all that's left now is the finishing touches, leaving Thom to complete the pump clip this afternoon!

So far you can sample our Pen-ALE-ty at the following:

The Peacock at Bakewell; George & Dragon at Holmesfield; Cliff Inn at Crich; Whitworth Hotel at Darley Dale; The Lathkil Hotel at Over Haddon; Okeover Arms at Mappleton; Highwayman at Eastmoor and The Midland at Matlock Bath.

Yesterday, with such lovely weather the brewers decided it was too good an opportunity to miss, so out they got their chairs, filled up their pint glasses, and sat in the sun.

Its such a hard life!

May 11th 2010.

This morning, I followed the guys as they brewed our award winning Bakewell Best Bitter - granted I didn't get up at half past five to meet them at the brewery at six! I just followed them from around from about half past nine.

When I arrived with the camera ( which was really Mitch's phone ) they had already mashed most of the malt and they had started getting ready do dig out.

We are currently getting ready to brew our World Cup 2010 Special Brew and we still haven't found a name for it! We need your help! If you have any ideas please suggest it in the comments page - it will reach us that way!

We also have this on our Facebook page and we have had some great ideas - lets keep them coming, you never know the name your thinking of might just be what people order at the bar this World Cup!

April 27th 2010

Following the success of our St Patrick's day celebrations, we went on to do the same with St. Georges day, Friday 16th April. Instead of using shamrocks ( that would just be silly! ) we had envelopes containing dragons, all but one, containing St. George himself, and what would you know, the lucky winner won a free barrel of beer! So me and our driver Barry set out for the day, handing out a fan of envelopes each time, some people picking and opening their envelope of choice, others choosing to leave us in suspense! It was only when we pulled into the brewery yard around 6pm we found out who had won, 'The Highwayman' at Eastmoor! The very first place we delivered to that day! Congratulations!!

April 26th 2010

On St. Patrick's Day in March we decided to have a little fun, for every order our locals made that week they had the chance to win a free 9 Gallon cask! We had a selection of envelopes to choose from, each envelope contained a Shamrock, BUT only one envelope contained a lucky four leaf shamrock! The lucky participant to pick this won!

It was getting very close to the end of our deliveries and so far nobody had picked the four leaf clover! We were starting to panic!! As we pulled up outside the Cressbrook Club and rolled their weekly order of half a barrel of Swift Nick down the steps, we were beginning to think we'd have no winner, holding out the remaining envelopes to a very messy member of the Cressbook Club committee ( we had interrupted them refurbishing the bar! ) he picked the winner straight out, easy as 1, 2 , 3! Congratulations Cressbrook Club who had their free cask this week! We hope you enjoy every drop!
